The New Dune Movie’s Cast Gets Even Better With Another Huge Name

The new Dune movie from Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve continues to add to its already incredibly star-studded cast. According to Variety, veteran actor Josh Brolin has joined the movie to play Gurney Halleck. The Thanos actor joins an already star-studded cast that includes Timothee Chalamet, Javier Bardem, Dave Bautista, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, Charlotte Rampling, and Stellan Skarsgard.

Halleck is a mentor to Chalamet’s character. He was played by Patrick Stewart in the 1984 film.

The movie is based on the Frank Herbert 1965 novel. David Lynch directed the first Dune movie in 1984; it was not a commercial success but it gained a cult reputation. A mini-series for TV was produced in the early 2000s on the Syfy channel.

Villeneuve, who also directed Sicario and Arrival, co-wrote the script for the new Dune with Eric Roth (A Star Is Born, Forrest Gump) and Jon Spaihts (Prometheus).

No release date has been announced as of yet for the new Dune. Given its cast, director, and writing team, the new Dune adaptation is very high on our anticipation radar. Keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest.
