Dude, so well said. Maybe it’s because I’m part of the older generation (started gaming with SNES and really dove head first into PSone), but I prefer finding out the story for myself, and straight to the point cutscenes and dialogue. Filler disrupts my focus so much. That’s probably why I took to the Souls games so quick – old school style approach to storytelling and plot. Gameplay first, story second. It would be great if every game could have the greatest story of all time, but a game can have a crap story as long as its gameplay is solid and I’ll enjoy the hell out of it.
