After announcing two education-focused Chromebooks yesterday, HP is back with two more affordable Chromebooks: the Chromebook 11A G6 Education Edition and Chromebook 14A G5.
Starting with the Chromebook 11A G6, the device features an 11.6-inch HD (1,366 x 768) display that comes in three flavors: an IPS touchscreen, a matte IPS non-touchscreen, and a matte SVA non-touchscreen. Regardless of the display option, the device’s 180-degree hinge lets you lie the display flat on a table.
On the sides are two USB-C ports, two full-size USB 2.0 ports, a headphone jack, and a microSD card slot.
Elsewhere, the Chromebook 11A G6 is one of the first Chromebooks to feature an AMD processor: the A4-9120C, to be specific. The device also comes with 4GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, and a 47.36Wh battery that promises up to 10 hours of use.
HP also says the Chromebook is fully compatible with the company’s Classroom Manager Student Edition, which should make it easier for teachers to manage student activity.
Announced during CES 2019, the Chromebook 14A G5 shares many similarities with its smaller sibling: the same AMD processor, RAM amount, storage amount, battery size, and display resolution. Even the port selection remains the same — two USB-C ports, two full-size USB 2.0 ports, a microSD card slot, and a headphone jack.
That said, you can bump up the Chromebook 14A G5’s display resolution to Full HD. Also, battery life sits at a slightly-lower nine hours and 15 minutes of mixed use.
The Chromebook 11A G6 and 14A G5 will launch in February and April, respectively. Pricing is unknown at the time of this writing, but don’t expect the devices to break the bank.
