Yes, the Pocophone F1 will get Android Q update as well

  • A Pocophone official has confirmed that the Pocophone F1 will be updated to Android Q.
  • The official’s tweet suggests the phone might get updates beyond Android Q as well.
  • The Pocophone F1 team has been hard at work fixing bugs and adding requested features.

The Pocophone F1 might be the best value for money smartphone of 2018, offering flagship power in a $300 package. Xiaomi isn’t messing around with support either, constantly soliciting feedback via forums and delivering bug fixes and new features.

Now, Pocophone head of product Jai Mani has confirmed that the Pocophone F1 will receive the Android Q update as well. Mani was responding to a user’s query on Twitter.

It’s refreshing to see third-party Android manufacturers explicitly commit to updates — even when these updates haven’t been revealed yet. As for a launch window, recent Android updates have been released to the public in August each year. So we’d expect the Pocophone F1 to receive a stable Android Q update in the months that follow.

It’s also noteworthy that Mani said the phone would get Android Pie and Android Q “at least.” This suggests that we might even see Android R on the budget-minded device.

The Chinese brand has also continued to update Pocophone F1 users on various issues and feedback requests. The most recent post on the official forum confirms that the phone will be receiving a dark mode for the app drawer, 4K/60fps recording in the camera app, HD Netflix support, and “Okay Google” capabilities. The company also said it’s working to resolve issues with PUBG Mobile, the Asphalt games, Android Auto, and touch input.
