Town of Salem coming to Android Oct. 14, hopefully without bots

Town of Salem is a browser game which gives you a specific role to play in a fictionalized version of the town of Salem, Massachusetts. You could be a serial killer, a doctor, a witch, or even an escort. The object of the game is to figure out who the bad guys are — and those bad guys are human players like yourself.

After conquering the browser gaming world and then conquering Steam, Town of Salem is finally coming to Android on October 14, just in time for Halloween.

As much fun as Town of Salem is to play, one of the biggest issues of the game is fake accounts and bots. Since many members of the town are human players, it’s to a player’s advantage to control multiple residents, which many gamers do. This makes the gameplay frustrating and takes out a lot of the fun.

BlankMediaGames knows this, and just last week published a blog post about how it is cracking down on bots. However, aside from issuing permaban punishments to those discovered to be “botting,” the company hasn’t revealed how it plans to proactively stop the problem.

The question then becomes: will the Android version of Town of Salem face the same bot problem? You’ll find out on October 14.

In the meantime, you can still play Town of Salem in your browser for free by clicking here, or you can buy the Steam version by clicking here.
