DETROIT — A Ford Motor Co. employee was found dead inside a bathroom overnight at the company’s Sterling Axle Plant in a suburb outside Detroit, although the cause of death remains unknown, police said Thursday.
Authorities were called around 12:10 a.m. Thursday morning after co-workers found the unidentified 24-year-old male worker unresponsive in a plant bathroom, a spokesman for the Sterling Heights police department said. The employee had told co-workers he had not been feeling well earlier in his shift before going to the bathroom, the spokesman said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and has been transported to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.
“Our thoughts are with the family, friends and coworkers of a Ford employee who passed away after being found unresponsive in the bathroom at the Sterling Axle Plant early this morning,” a Ford spokeswoman said in a statement. “We are cooperating with authorities in the investigation.”
