I read the article. I still wouldn’t give EA props for shining the light on greedy business practices. Just like I wouldn’t give Microsoft props for DRM2013.
“Good job greedy companies!” “You saved us!” “Thank you!”
GTFOOH!
I’ve boycotted EA for over a decade. I despise their predatory business practices. I despise their locking up game licenses. I despise them for all the companies they bought and closed or used there marketing dollars to destroy competition. Criterion and Burnout is a perfect example of buying your competition and slowly destroying them.
I don’t buy loot boxes. Never supported loot boxes. Never liked the idea of grinding for cosmetics. I don’t support items sold separately that could fit on a bluray disc. I don’t support half made expensive games to only sell you the rest of the content later. I don’t support season passes.
Knowing what you are buying, when you should buy and who you are buying from goes a long way in saving money and letting companies know you don’t support certain practices that are a detriment to the console industry. Them being negative is not a positive.
And when companies end up pushing subscription services all over the place and gaming becomes fractured, when content and demos will only be offered only if you subscribe, when you no longer own anything physical, that’s when you’ll know oblivious thinking gamers F’d up again because they aren’t thinking about the consequences.
