It was definitely ahead of it’s time. I remember playing Madden online using a 56k modem and it was terrible, I remember telling myself that online gaming would never take off because of that experience.
But man, Sega were just masterminds, the VMU, the Sega channel, the CD and 32x add ons. everything they did was innovative and handled down right poorly.
It didn’t help that they screwed over consumers and retailers with the Saturn system.
Happy birthday Dreamcast in an alternate universe there’s a Dreamcast 4 releasing soon and a N4G being excited to see it.
