2020 Kia Soul First Look

Riding on a new platform, the 2020 Kia Soul will be offered in a range of models, including the sporty GT-Line, the rugged-looking X-Line, and the style-oriented EX Designer Collection.

Compared to its predecessor, the wheelbase is 1.2 inches longer and the vehicle is 2.2 inches longer overall. Inside, cargo capacity with all seats in place has increased to 23.8 cubic feet, and the rear hatch opening is wider and lower to accommodate larger items.

Power comes from the same 147-hp 2.0-liter I-4 found in the Forte sedan, mated to either a six-speed manual or a CVT. The 201-hp 1.6-liter turbo I-4 carries over with a seven-speed twin-clutch automatic. An all-electric model also returns and promises more (as yet unspecified) range than its predecessor, with 201 hp and 291 lb-ft of torque — up from 109 hp and 210 lb-ft on the last-gen model.

The 2020 Soul gets Kia‘s latest UVO infotainment system, featuring an optional 10.3-inch touchscreen on EX and GT-Line (turbo only) grades and a head-up display. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard, and the Bluetooth system has been upgraded to allow for connecting two devices. The Soul will offer user-selectable multi-color ambient lighting that can sync to the beat of the music.

Available safety features include automatic emergency braking, lane keeping and lane change assist, a driver-attention warning system, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and rear cross-traffic warning.
