Heavy rain lashed several parts of the East Coast over the weekend, triggering flash floods in northeast New Jersey that carried vehicles from a nearby Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge dealership downriver Saturday before hitting a bridge.
Almost a dozen vehicles were videotaped floating down the Peckman River before piling together and striking a bridge. The vehicles belong to Route 46 Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge in Little Falls, N.J., according to News12 New Jersey.
The video was posted to YouTube, later capturing the attention of news outlets including the New York Post, CNN and ABC News.
“It’s a mess, clearly, as you can see,” Adam Solomon, sales manager at Route 46 Auto Group, told News12. “We are just assessing the damage, seeing how far the extent goes.”
Route 46 Auto Group, of Totowa, N.J., has five stores in New Jersey.
A flash flood watch is to remain in effect through the night in New Jersey, including Bergen, Essex, Passaic, Union and Hudson counties, according to the National Weather Service.
Heavy rainfall over the weekend has left the area susceptible to flash flooding, the weather service said.
