Bad news, Amazon Echo owners: In a weird case of life imitating art, Alexa appears to have actually lost her voice.
A widespread issue appears to be affecting Alexa’s ability to communicate with Echo speakers.
Many users are reporting trouble using Alexa on Echo speakers.
“We are aware of this issue and are working on it,” an Alexa tech support guy just told me. He said he will call me back when it’s resolved or he has more information. I can get weather, spelling, Audible book, and time but not Prime Music or Colorado Public Radio on Tune.

The source of the issue is unclear, but it seems to be widespread, wth ongoing issues in much of the U.S, according to the downdetetcor.com, a website that measures outages.
An Amazon spokesperson didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
The scenario is weirdly similar to Amazon’s recent Super Bowl commercial. The spot, which featured CEO Jeff Bezos, imagined a scenario where celebrities attempted to replace Alexa (and failed miserably).
Naturally, the irony didn’t escape frustrated Echo owners.
@amazon alexa whats going on? not working…just like in the superbowl ad?

I also can’t use Drop In on my Echo Show. Amazon’s Alexa Super Bowl ad looks prescient!
