The third-generation Chevrolet Camaro was much lighter and somewhat more modern than its predecessor, and this television advertisement depicts members of a future race of glowing-eyed superior beings paying under eight grand for a 1984 Camaro, while their benevolent and all-wise masters look on approvingly.
Not stated in the advertisement is the fact that the engine you got at that price was the not-at-all-futuristic Iron Duke four-cylinder, rated at 92 horsepower; if you wanted a V6 or V8, it cost you more neptunium-237 ingots (or whatever they’ll use for currency in 1984’s version of the future).
